FRIWEIKA products are natural products!

The potato in particular represents the originality of nature. And FRIWEIKA stands for resource saving, environmentally conscious and holistic commercialisation and integral processing of the products.

• Integral utilisation of the potato:
  The potatoes are utilised at 100 %. The potato waste products serve as a substrate for the biogas plant. The fermentation residues from the biogas plant are collected in tanks for fermentation residues and reused by the farmers as a fertiliser. Since these farmers are the ones who provide the potatoes, the primary material cycle is closed again.
  
  The energy that can be generated within the biogas reactor is used for steam generation, hot-water boilers and for heating. The biogas plant produces  2.5 million m³ of biogas per year. Thus due to the self-generated biogas, FRIWEIKA can reduce consumption of fuel oil by 40% in a resource saving way!

• Water conditioning:
  The water that is used for washing and processing the potatoes will be reconditioned. Up to 500 m³ of waste water per day are pre-cleaned in an anaerobic way and post-treated in an aerobic way so that it can be reused for washing raw potatoes. This water saving also benefits our environment!

• Sustainability:
  The principle of sustainability is applied by FRIWEIKA already at the selection of the potato varieties. A close collaboration with the farmers, who propagate and cultivate the potatoes, is a precondition. On a cultivated area of 1.400 ha, production is effected under controlled integrated contract cultivation. This cooperation permits a cultivation monitoring during the different growing periods of the potatoes from planting out until maturity of the potato tubers, but also during harvest.
  
  Because cultivation is effected in regions close to FRIWEIKA, transport distances are relatively short. This benefits economic as well as ecologic sustainability.

• Transport:
  An own vehicle fleet permits to react upon customer requirements and market trends in a quick and flexible way. Therefore FRIWEIKA uses nearly only vehicles that comply with the strict Euro 5 pollution standard.
